Miami Lakes, FL -- The Dick Conley Memorial Youth Football League won the overall competition in the Cheer/Dance category while the Kendall Hammocks Warriors took the Cheer/Dance/Stunt category, but it was the Warriors who took home the prize of Grand Champions at the tenth annual Orange Bowl Youth Football Cheer and Dance Championships on November 15 at Nova Southeastern’s Don Taft University Center in Davie.
The event saw an estimated 1,300 cheerleaders and dancers from across the Orange Bowl Youth Football Alliance (OBYFA) compete throughout the day-long event. With assistance from OBYFA sponsors American Airlines, Doctors Hospital, Playmaker Charities and Foundation, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida, Land Shark Stadium, AutoNation, Nestle Waters, MetroPCS, Toyota and the Greater Ft. Lauderdale CVBA, a total of 17 first place awards were handed out in various categories as well as special accolades for overall spirit and sportsmanship. Additionally, each participant received a medal for participation.
Leagues participating in this year’s competition include the Dick Conley Memorial Youth Football League (DCMYFL), Glades Tri-City Youth Football League, Key West Junior Football League, Miami Extreme Youth Football League (MXYFL), Palm Beach Youth Football League, West Boca Tackle Football League, West Boynton Youth Football League and Western Communities Football League. Each squad was divided into competitive classes: small (4-15 participants), medium (16-22 participants), large (23-35 participants) and judged in either "Cheer/Dance" or "Cheer/Dance/Stunt" categories.
Some of this year’s more impressive parks were:

- North Miami Beach Sun Devils (MXYFL) as their Mini (medium) and Jr. Prep (large) received first prize in the Cheer/Dance/Stunt category.

- Palm Beach Youth Football League’s Noles (Mini-small) and Gators (Pee-wee-small) won first prize in the Cheer/Dance category.
All first place winners qualified for the Spirit of the Orange Bowl Cheer Contest which will take place at the OBYFA Championships on Saturday, December 12, 2009. The winners of this contest will perform at the MetroPCS Orange Bowl Basketball Classic December 19, 2009.
