Miami, FL (www.orangebowl.org) – The 10th ranked Iowa Hawkeyes (10-2) arrived early this evening at Miami International Airport to begin on-site preparation for the 2010 FedEx Orange Bowl, to be played January 5, 2010 at Land Shark Stadium. The game will be televised live at 8 p.m. on the FOX Network, as well as on ESPN Radio.
The Hawkeyes left Iowa City this afternoon where the high temperature was 21 degrees, the lowest wind chill was -3 degrees and two inches of snow had fallen in the last 24 hours for South Florida, which experienced a high temperature of 78 degrees today.
The Hawkeyes will practice tomorrow and all week leading up to the game at Barry University in Miami Shores. Practice is closed to the public and media.
Iowa’s opponent, 9th ranked Georgia Tech (11-2) will arrive on Wednesday from Atlanta.
This will mark the first meeting ever between these schools and is only the second time in Orange Bowl history that the Big Ten will face the ACC. The two conferences previously met in the 2006 FedEx Orange Bowl where Joe Paterno and his Penn State Nittany Lions outlasted Bobby Bowden and the Florida State Seminoles 26-23 in a triple-overtime thriller.
