Participate in the 2017 Orange Bowl Creative Art Contest presented by Florida Prepaid College Plans

The Orange Bowl has partnered with Florida Prepaid College Plans to bring the Orange Bowl Creative Art Contest program to schools in South Florida. The theme for this year’s Orange Bowl Creative Art Contest is “First Down to a Healthy Life.”

The program also recognizes teachers and educators who encourage their students to live active and healthy lifestyles. The top five teachers that submit the most entries will receive $50 gift cards from Office Max. Additionally, the school that submits the most entries is eligible to win an Orange Bowl and Florida Prepaid College Plans school takeover.

The Orange Bowl Creative Art Contest, which focuses on health and wellness initiatives, is open to all students in Miami-Dade and Broward counties. Students have the opportunity to win a multitude of incredible prizes by submitting artwork. Students are encouraged to submit artwork that includes visual representations of South Florida, college football, healthy lifestyles and OBIE (the Orange Bowl’s official mascot).

The Orange Bowl is currently visiting area schools, where students will have the opportunity to play games, meet and interact with OBIE, learn more details about the contest and become educated on living a healthy lifestyle. The team has already visited 30 schools impacting nearly 5,000 students.  The school tour will end on November 17 and all entries are due on November 22 by 5 p.m. Winners will be announced and contacted on December 1.

The Grand Prize for this year’s contest is a $500 Nike gift card, an Orange Bowl bicycle and a Florida Prepaid College Plans prize pack including a Florida 529 savings plan with an initial contribution of $1,000. The Grand Prize winner’s artwork will also be featured as a full-page acknowledgement in the 2017 Capital One Orange Bowl game program and he/she will receive two tickets to the game and be part of a special on-field presentation during the game. Last year’s winner was Kasandra Suarez from Ruben Dario Middle School (artwork pictured below).

First, second and third place winners will be selected from four categories (kindergarten – 2nd grade; 3rd grade – 5th grade; 6th grade – 8th grade and 9th – 12th grade).

The 2017 winners will receive four tickets to the MetroPCS Orange Bowl Basketball Classic on Sat., Dec. 16, at 2 p.m., at the BB&T Center.
