Miami Lakes, Fla. No. 5 Texas A&M and No. 13 North Carolina are set to meet in the 87th Capital One Orange Bowl on January 2, 2021, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla., at 8 p.m. ET.

This will be the first time ever that the Aggies and the Tar Heels meet on the gridiron. Texas A&M (8-1, 8-1 SEC) is 14th in the nation defensively in total offensive yards allowed per game (316.6 yds/g) and North Carolina (8-3, 7-3 ACC) leads the nation in total offense (6,123 yds) and ranks 3rd in the country in total points scored (473).

Texas A&M will be making its second appearance in a game hosted by the Orange Bowl, its first since 1944 when they faced off with LSU. This will be Jimbo Fisher’s 3rd Capital One Orange Bowl as a head coach, winning his first two at the helm of Florida State in 2013 and 2016.

North Carolina will be making its first appearance in a game hosted by the Orange Bowl. The only other ACC teams that have not played in an Orange Bowl game are N.C. State and Pittsburgh. This will be Mack Brown’s second time coaching in a game hosted by the Orange Bowl, appearing in 1985 as the offensive coordinator for Barry Switzer’s Oklahoma Sooners.

About the Orange Bowl
The Orange Bowl is a 380-member, primarily-volunteer non-profit sports organization that promotes and serves the South Florida community. With its primary mission since being created in 1935 to bring tourism to South Florida through an annual football game and events, it has also maintained a legacy of charitable contributions and community outreach. Orange Bowl community outreach efforts are comprised of four pillars: youth sports, fundraising and community events, academic programs and scholarships, and legacy gifts. The Orange Bowl features a year-round schedule of events culminating with the Capital One Orange Bowl on Jan. 2, 2021. The Orange Bowl also led a community-wide effort to bring the 2021 College Football Playoff National Championship to South Florida. It will be played on Jan. 11, 2021 (2021miami.com).
