When girls participate in sports they are more likely to succeed in school and be leaders in society. Drawing on the principals of Title IX, the landmark U.S. law that afforded equality for American women in sports and education – the Orange Bowl’s “Drive for Excellence” is designed to empower young South Florida women through golf to gain the confidence and leadership they need to reach their full potential in life and sports. In a strategic partnership with The First Tee, the Orange Bowl will provide scholarship assistance, academic coaching, leadership training and mentoring to thirty-five (35) young, diverse South Florida women. We are determined to make sure that golf scholarships available to these young South Florida women do not remain unused.
The Orange Bowl "Drive For Excellence" Girls' Golf Program teed off on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at the Melreese Country Club in Miami, Fl. This special event featured the Inagural Orange Bowl "First Drive" Ceremony and golf demonstrations by participants in the program.
The First Tee provides young people with character-building and life skills lessons using golf as the platform. Through The First Tee, young people discover how skills essential to success on a golf course can also help them flourish in life.
