JACK SEILER ANNOUNCED AS ORANGE BOWL COMMITTEE PRESIDENT & CHAIR
John P. “Jack” Seiler has officially been announced as the Orange Bowl Committee's 83rd President and Chair as of January 12, 2021. Seiler, whose grandfather Earnie Seiler was one of the original founders of
the Orange Bowl Committee, has been a member of the Orange Bowl Committee (OBC) since 1994 and a board member since 1999. He succeeds Immediate Past President & Chair, Jeff E. Rubin.
Seiler, the first OBC President to reside in Broward County, will oversee the Committee's continued commitment to the South Florida community, including a full slate of events highlighted by the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Capital One Orange Bowl on December 31, 2021.
The Orange Bowl invests more than $1 million in the South Florida community on an annual basis, funding a variety of youth sports programs, community events, academic programs and scholarships and legacy gift projects. The legacy gift initiatives, in conjunction with local municipalities and partner support, have resulted in more than $16 million worth of improvements in five South Florida parks from Homestead to Belle Glade over the last 13 years, including Orange Bowl Field at Carter Park in Fort Lauderdale.
“I am truly honored and humbled to lead this historic and prestigious South Florida institution,” said Seiler. “My grandfather Earnie Seiler was a pioneer in this community and one of the founding fathers of the Orange Bowl Committee in 1935, and my father has been an OBC member since 1974. To be able to follow in their footsteps is extremely meaningful to me. I am privileged and grateful to have this opportunity to make them proud, along with my colleagues who have so graciously elected me to serve as their President.”
Seiler is the founding partner in Seiler, Sautter, Zaden, Rimes & Wahlbrink, a Martindale-Hubbell AV rated preeminent lawyer, and a Thompson Reuters Florida Super Lawyer representing corporate entities, fiduciaries, and individuals in all areas of civil litigation. His 32 years as a trial lawyer in South Florida have given Seiler extensive jury trial and non-jury trial experience throughout Florida’s State and Federal Courts.
Seiler is the former three (3) term Mayor of the City of Fort Lauderdale, holding that position from 2009-2018. He was also a Member of the State of Florida House of Representatives from 2000-2008, Chair of the Broward Legislative Delegation from 2007-2008, Vice Chair of the Broward Legislative Delegation from 2006-2007, and Council Member, Vice Mayor and then Mayor of the City of Wilton Manors from 1993-2000.
Seiler received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1985, and his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Miami in 1988.
Seiler resides in Fort Lauderdale with his wife, Susan, and they have four (4) adult children all living and working in Broward County.
