JIM COURIER INDUCTED INTO ORANGE BOWL TENNIS HALL OF FAME

MIAMI LAKES, Fla. – The Orange Bowl Committee introduced Jim Courier as the 2022 Orange Bowl  Tennis Hall of Fame inductee during a ceremony at the March 30 evening session of the Miami Open at Hard Rock Stadium.

Courier won rare back-to-back Orange Bowl titles in 1986 and 1987 (Boys 16-and-under and 18-and-under, respectively) before an illustrious professional career.

By the age of 22, Courier was a singles finalist of all four majors, the youngest male player to ever accomplish that feat. Throughout his impressive 12-year pro career, Courier won four majors, earned 23 ATP singles titles, six doubles titles and was part of two Davis Cup winning teams in 1992 and 1995. He was ranked No. 1 in the world for 58 weeks between 1992 and 1993. Only seven players in the Open Era have managed to reach a major singles final at Melbourne, Paris, London and New York, and Courier is included in that elite group.

Over the last 75 years, the Orange Bowl International Tennis Championships has become one of the most prestigious junior tennis tournaments in the world. The tournament has featured a “who’s who” of tennis greats through the years, including past champions Bjorn Borg, Jim Courier, Elena Dementieva, Chris Evert, Roger Federer, Mary Joe Fernandez, Ivan Lendl, John McEnroe, Andy Roddick, Gabriela Sabatini and Coco Gauff. Other participants include Arthur Ashe, Boris Becker, Jennifer Capriati, Jimmy Connors and Yannick Noah.
