ORANGE BOWL CELEBRATES SOUTH FLORIDA TEACHERS DURING TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK
Miami Lakes, Fla. – In celebration of Teacher Appreciation Week, the Capital One Orange Bowl, in partnership with the College Football Playoff Foundation and ESPN, is providing $25,000 to teachers in the South Florida community. Five elementary schools will be surprised this week with $5,000 in DonorsChoose gift certificates to fund classroom projects.
"Teachers deserve all the credit in the world for everything they do for the youth of our community,” said Orange Bowl Committee President & Chair Jack Seiler. “Amid a very tough and challenging year, these teachers really had to overcome an immense number of obstacles to keep educating our children, and we are delighted to honor and thank these great individuals.”
“We are honored to partner with our friends at the Orange Bowl and ESPN in expressing our appreciation to South Florida teachers,” said College Football Playoff Foundation Executive Director Britton Banowsky. “Educators across the country have stepped up to the challenge of teaching their students during a global pandemic, for which we are very grateful.”
Representatives from the Orange Bowl Committee and College Football Playoff Foundation, including mascots OBIE and ACE, will be making surprise visits each day throughout the week to recognize teachers for all of their hard work and dedication.
The College Football Playoff Foundation is the community engagement arm of the College Football Playoff, and Extra Yard for Teachers is its primary initiative supporting teachers year-round through the support of its Bowl, Conference, media and other partners.
