Orange Bowl Cheer Championships Presented by Metro by T-Mobile to Take Place This Sunday November 11th


3PM_4858The 2018 Orange Bowl Cheer Championships, presented by Metro by T-Mobile, will take place Sunday, November 11 from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., at the Rick Case Arena at the Don Taft Center at Nova Southeastern University.

The action-packed day will feature over 1,600 youth cheerleaders of all different ages and skill levels from Orange Bowl Youth Football Alliance (OBYFA) presented by Metro by T-Mobile leagues who will compete in five different divisions: mini, peewee, prep, varsity and pro. One deserving team will also take home the title of Overall Competition Grand Champion. Two other teams will take home either the Sportsmanship Award or Spirit Award which exemplify the teams that excel in those areas during the competition.

“We’re proud to host the Orange Bowl Cheer Championships, presented by Metro by T-Mobile, again this year,” said Orange Bowl Committee President and Chair Sean Pittman. “This is a tremendous event that gives these young athletes the opportunity to compete and showcase their abilities in front of family, friends and thousands of fans.”

The Orange Bowl has invested more than $7 million in South Florida Youth Sports Programs since the start of the OBYFA program in 1999. Now in its 20th year, the OBYFA presented by Metro by T-Mobile benefits approximately 13,000 youth football players and cheerleaders in eight leagues reaching from Lake Okeechobee to Key West.

Youth sports is one of the four pillars of Orange Bowl Community Outreach, which also includes fundraising and community events, academic programs and scholarships, and legacy gifts. For 85 years, the Orange Bowl has been one of South Florida’s leading civic organizations, promoting championship sporting events, related premier entertainment and other year-round activities to inspire youth, engage our community and enhance the South Florida economy.

The Orange Bowl Cheer Championships are presented by Metro by T-Mobile and are joined by the following associate sponsors: American Airlines, CiCis Pizza, Clutch Insurance, Comcast, Dave & Buster’s, Marathon Petroleum Company, Miami Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute (MOSMI), Nike, Sunshine Health and Toyota.
