Orange Bowl Gives Back to South Florida Teachers During “Extra Yard for Teachers Week”

MIAMI LAKES, Florida (orangebowl.org) – Today, the Orange Bowl Committee commemorated the College Football Playoff (CFP) Foundation’s “Extra Yard for Teachers Week” by surprising a South Florida teacher with a $1,000 DonorsChoose gift card.

The Orange Bowl team alongside their mascot, OBIE, surprised Ms. Marcia Mitchell in her classroom at Norland Middle School with a $1,000 DonorsChoose gift card. The donation can be used towards classroom projects and resources for her students. Ms. Mitchell, an Algebra Honors teacher, was nominated by her administrators for her exceptional dedication to her students.

“Ms. Mitchell is an invaluable member of our school community and has contributed to the advancement of STEAM education at Norland Middle School, “said Dr. Sacha Challenger, Principal, Norland Middle. “As a result of her exceptional efforts, Norland Middle was granted the prestigious Silver STEAM Designation for the 2023-2024 school year. We are so grateful to the Orange Bowl for recognizing her.”

“Extra Yard for Teachers (EYFT) Week” (September 15-23, 2023) is an annual event during which universities, conferences, bowl games, ESPN and others in the college football space come together to celebrate and recognize teachers across the country.
