OREGON & TEXAS TECH TO MEET IN THE 2026 COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF QUARTERFINAL AT THE CAPITAL ONE ORANGE BOWL
MIAMI LAKES, Fla. (December 22, 2025) – Oregon and Texas Tech are set to meet in the 2026 College Football Playoff Quarterfinal at the Capital One Orange Bowl on Thursday, January 1, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. ET at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla.
This will mark the first time the Ducks and Red Raiders have met at the Capital One Orange Bowl, and the fourth time Oregon and Texas Tech have met on the gridiron dating back to 1991. Oregon leads the all-time series 3–0, with the most recent meeting coming in the 2023 regular season opener in Lubbock, when the Ducks defeated the Red Raiders 38–30.
Oregon will be making its first appearance in the Capital One Orange Bowl. The Ducks advanced to the quarterfinals with a 51–34 home win over No. 12 seed James Madison in the CFP First Round and are making their second straight College Football Playoff appearance and third overall.
Texas Tech will be making its first appearance in the Capital One Orange Bowl and its first appearance in the College Football Playoff. The Red Raiders enter at 12–1 after winning the Big 12 Championship and finishing No. 4 in the final College Football Playoff rankings.
This year’s matchup will have the distinction of being the first College Football Playoff Quarterfinal game in Capital One Orange Bowl history.
