ORANGE BOWL COMMITTEE UNVEILS ORANGE BOWL FIELD AT WALT FRAZIER PARK

$2.3 million legacy project brings new synthetic football field, electronic scoreboard and park improvements to Miami Gardens

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – (Jan. 13, 2026) – The Orange Bowl Committee, in partnership with the 2026 Miami Host Committee and Miami-Dade County, unveiled Orange Bowl Field at Walt Frazier Park on Tuesday, a $2.3 million renovation featuring a new synthetic football field, an electronic scoreboard and additional park improvements.

The project marked the Orange Bowl’s seventh legacy initiative and its fourth in Miami-Dade County, advancing the organization’s Orange Bowl Cares mission to reinvest in South Florida communities through youth sports and long-term community impact.

“This field represents opportunity. It represents access. And it represents our continued commitment to youth sports and community investment.”  said Eric Poms, Chief Executive Officer of the Orange Bowl Committee.

Orange Bowl Committee President and Chair Henri Crockett said the project reflects the organization’s year-round dedication to Orange Bowl Cares and its four community pillars, including Legacy Programs.

“This field is a powerful example of our mission in action—creating meaningful, lasting benefits that extend well beyond game day,” Crockett said.

The renovation traces back to a legacy commitment originally made in conjunction with the 2021 College Football Playoff National Championship. Following delays caused by the pandemic, the project was ultimately advanced through a matching partnership and collaboration with Miami-Dade County and the City of Miami Gardens, culminating in the transformation of Walt Frazier Park.

As Chair of the 2026 Miami Host Committee, Jack Seiler emphasized the importance of leaving a lasting impact tied to major sporting events.

“It’s about creating something that strengthens communities, supports youth and continues to make a difference long after the final whistle,” Seiler said. He also recognized the College Football Playoff Foundation, including Executive Director Rich Clark and the foundation’s leadership team, for supporting community-based initiatives across South Florida, including innovative learning centers and legacy projects.

Additional funding support for the project was provided through the GA Telesis Orange Bowl Golf Tournament presented by First Horizon Bank.

Attendees at the ribbon-cutting ceremony included Walt Frazier; Eric Poms; Jack Seiler; Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava; Miami-Dade County Commissioner Oliver Gilbert; Miami Gardens Mayor Rodney Harris; College Football Playoff Executive Director Rich Clark; GA Telesis President and CEO Abdol Moabery; and Miami Dolphins Senior Vice President of Special Projects Nat Moore.

The ceremony concluded with Walt Frazier cutting the ribbon and a photo opportunity on the newly renovated field.

These legacy initiatives are made possible through the Orange Bowl Committee and its leadership of the Miami Host Committee, which will host the 2026 College Football Playoff National Championship at Hard Rock Stadium on Jan. 19, 2026.
